Spending $55 million on stadium repairs is one thing. Paying eight figures to fix a structure that's only a few years away from the wrecking ball is something else entirely, as the St. Petersburg City Council and Pinellas County commissioners are now discovering. Tropicana Field, the domed ballpark of MLB's Tampa Bay Rays, can be repaired in time for the 2026 season after Hurricane Milton caused $39 million damage with an additional $16 million in other expenses, according to a report financed by the city.
