The Metropolitan Police have handed a file of evidence to prosecutors over a Premier League footballer accused of rape. Officials from the Crown Prosecution Service will now examine the dossier before deciding whether to press charges, in a development that will cause serious concerns at his club. The player, who cannot be named for legal reasons, is in his 30s. He has continued to play for his side despite being initially arrested in July 2022.
