There were a number of good reasons for Celtic to sell Kyogo Furuhashi, however popular and talented he was during his three-and-a-half years at the club. One was his desire to leave. If it was his intention to move on, as Brendan Rodgers said it had been for several months, it was in nobody's interest to hold him against his will. Another was the transfer fee, reported to be around £10million, received from Rennes at the end of last month.
