McDonald's makes major U-turn as it takes another shot at divisive menu item
McDonald's is once again testing a veggie burger at restaurants in North America. News of the McVeggie comes just eight months after the fast food giant abandoned its last bid to sell meat-free beef burgers in the US. At the time it said it has axed the McPlant — developed with Beyond Meat and made from pea and rice proteins — because customers did not want fake meat. Now, instead of imitation beef, McDonald's is shifting to a pattie made from vegetables including carrots, green beans, zucchini and soybeans.
